UC Irvine presents Exploring Design + Ethics

Design has the capacity to improve society - but has it been part of the problem?

Practices such as encouraging addictive behavior, exploiting user data, and employing manipulative patterns have become too commonplace in the products central to modern life.

Luckily, growing movements in ethical design seek to reclaim any moral ground ceded, by empowering designers with a toolkit and common set of values to guide us and our product organizations.

Join us for an evening of community, thought leadership, and practical guidance as we explore equal parts “how might we” and “well should we.”

Selection of Past Speakers:

  • Stephen Gates, Head Design Evangelist at InVision

  • Rudi Anggono, Head of UX Design Strategy at Google

  • Maureen Carter, VP Design at BET

  • Joe Lalley, Digital Transformation at PWC

  • Mike Bowser, Creative Director at Associated Press

  • Allan Chochenov, Chair and Cofounder at SVA MFA Products of Design
